What is Drones Skillz and who is it for?
Drones Skillz is a hybrid training school built by Ukrainian instructors with real frontline experience to teach FPV piloting, drone engineering, and mission tactics for civilian and institutional audiences across the EU. It serves entry‑level learners, young technologists, security and safety teams, municipal programs, and specialised clients such as defence units and private security companies.
Where do trainings take place?
Programmes run in Poland (Lublin or Subcarpathian Voivodeship on a partner site), with online theory, simulations, assessments, and optional hybrid “field camp” intensives over 7 days for hands‑on practice. Dual‑language support (EN/PL) is part of the growth roadmap.
What programmes do you offer?
Three tracks: FPV Flight (from fundamentals to confident FPV), Drone Engineering (assembly, maintenance, repair, integration), and Mission Tactics (crew roles, checklists, medical basics, comms and procedures). Each track blends classroom/sim, field drills, and scenario work tailored to civilian and public‑safety use cases
How do you ensure training quality and credibility?
Instruction is delivered by Ukrainian trainers with current, practical experience (e.g., training operators for real missions), combined with European certification alignment and partnerships. The school integrates structured SOPs, debriefs, and skills analytics to track competence and readiness.
Which certifications are covered or supported?
For piloting, we align with EASA open‑category certificates A1/A3 (online theory) and A2 (competency certificate), which enable operations from “far from people” to “close to people” in EU airspace. Remote pilot competency is valid for 5 years and recognised across EU/EEA/CH. We also support UAS Operator registration requirements where applicable.
Do students get official European certificates through you?
The school partners with certified organisations so that learners who complete our training can sit the official EASA A1/A3 and A2 processes and receive EU‑recognised certificates. We guide registration, study, and exam preparation, and help with operator registration where required.
What about tactical medicine and NAEMT/TCCC?
Tactical medicine is part of the development roadmap and will be delivered via partnerships with accredited centres, following NAEMT/TCCC standards. NAEMT’s TCCC courses are internationally recognised and run by approved instructors and training centres; instructor criteria and course accreditation are defined by NAEMT and associated bodies.
Who are your partners and why do they matter?
Strategic partners include Volt Europa, supporting innovation and safety initiatives and helping with institutional trust and EU‑level advocacy, and Killhouse Ukraine, a training school drawing on the 3rd Assault Brigade’s practical know‑how for instructor preparation. Additional partners include video production, Polish course certification consultancy, and EN‑PL localisation teams. These relationships accelerate legal compliance, course localisation, and scalable delivery.
How is your school different from typical drone courses?
We train complete operators, not just “stick skills”: confident FPV piloting under pressure, first‑line technical repair and tuning, crew procedures, safety, and integration into public‑safety and enterprise workflows. The combination of battle‑tested Ukrainian expertise and EU certification pathways is our unique positioning.
Do you train from zero experience?
Yes. Programmes include beginner‑friendly theory, simulator modules, and progressive field drills. Engineering covers assembly and repair from basics; tactics introduces roles, briefs/debriefs, risk assessment, and comms appropriate for civilian contexts.
Is this only for defence?
No. While instructors bring frontline experience, curricula are adapted for civilian and dual‑use applications: security, police support, fire and rescue, agriculture, infrastructure monitoring, and municipal safety programmes.
What languages do you support?
English at launch; Polish is in the roadmap with dual‑language materials and support as we scale.
How do you handle EU compliance (pilot and operator side)?
We guide learners through:
- EASA A1/A3 online theory and A2 competency certification.
- UAS Operator registration where drones ≥250 g or with imaging sensors are used, and “Specific” category declarations when relevant.
- Marking the operator code on aircraft and understanding operating subcategories (A1/A2/A3).
Can organisations book custom cohorts?
Yes. We run tailored intensives for security teams, municipalities, and enterprises, including on‑site sessions, specific SOPs, and engineering work packages aligned to operational needs.
What support do students receive during and after training?
Continuous mentorship, progress tracking, and access to materials; priority guidance on certification steps; and optional 24/7 channel coverage for scheduled intensives. Plans include expanding support and alumni communities across EU nodes.
Are instructors legally authorised to teach in the EU?
Ukrainian instructors undergo European upskilling and obtain relevant instructor licences (EASA for drones, NAEMT/TCCC in the roadmap), delivered through certified European training organisations. This ensures legal standing and recognition of issued certificates.
How do I get started?
